There was an opener highlighted by a pair of Kenny Towns grand slams, a home debut for Brandon Waddell featuring his 15 strikeouts and a string of 40-plus innings without a run given up by the starting pitchers.
Through a dozen games, the Virginia baseball team was not only undefeated, it had gotten that way with a variety of storylines. But “late dramatics” had yet to be associated with these Cavaliers.
