The Virginia football team will be without its starting right guard and co-starting tight end when it travels to take on Pittsburgh at 12:30 p.m., Saturday.
Conner Davis, who has started 13 of UVa’s last 15 games on the Cavalier offensive line, is out with a “lower extremity” injury. Zach Swanson, who shares the lead tight end role with Jake McGee, will not play due to the knee injury he suffered in the third quarter against VMI last Saturday.
Davis’ immediate backup is junior Cody Wallace. Swanson will likely get relieved by sophomore Rob Burns.
“I think Rob will perform well of what’s asked of him,” McGee said earlier this week.
With a sprained ankle, freshman running back Taquan Mizzell is questionable for the Pitt game. With the same injury, running back Khalek Shepherd is probable to play against the Panthers. Receiver Miles Gooch is also probable with a “lower extremity” injury.
This information was released by UVa on Thursday.
