Thaiss showing promise at the plate for Virginia

As the door to the Virginia baseball interview room swung open and Derek Fisher entered, the veteran turned to his rookie teammate and quipped: “Take notes.”

Following behind Fisher was Matt Thaiss, a freshman asked to the podium by the media Sunday after a 3-for-4, two-double performance in UVa’s 6-2 win over East Carolina.
