JPJ brings beach back indoors

Mark your calendars — and don’t pack your flip-flops away just yet. Fans can head to the John Paul Jones Arena on Feb. 21, 2009, to chase away winter’s chill with some sizzling beach volleyball.
The 2009 AVP Crocs Hot Winter Nights Indoor Tour will bring eight AVP athletes, including members of Team USA’s Olympic beach volleyball team, to play indoors on more than 200 tons of sand.
Ticket holders can expect a three-hour round-robin tournament, as well as a beach party.
Tickets, which will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, will range from $67 to $20. They’ll be available at the arena’s box office and Plan 9, online at http://www.johnpauljonesarena.com and by phone at (888) JPJ-TIXS.
