The Isaacs will be bringing gospel music and more to Fork Union Military Academy for a Mother’s Day Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Headed by matriarch Lily Isaacs, the group includes son Ben Isaacs on standup bass, daughters Sonya Isaacs on vocals and Becky Isaacs Bowman on vocals and songwriting and Bowman’s husband, John Bowman, a multi-instrumentalist.

The group performs frequently at the Grand Ole Opry and can be seen in many Gaither Homecoming videos and DVDs.

“Big Sky,’’ the family’s latest CD, is its second album for Gaither Music Group. Songs include the title track and “Barbie Band-Aids.’’

“Bridges,’’ an earlier album, won a Dove Award for best bluegrass album of the year for 1997.

Listeners can hear many influences in the music, including bluegrass, folk, contemporary acoustic music and rhythm and blues.

The individual members bring many accomplishments to the family group.

Lily Isaacs was half of the folk duo Lily and Maria.

Ben Isaacs has played bass with a variety of bluegrass stars, including Ralph Stanley, Tony Rice, Aubrey Haynie and Rhonda Vincent.

Becky Isaacs Bowman has won awards for her songwriting.

As a singer, she has appeared with Dolly Parton, Paul Simon, Stanley and other stars.

Sonya Isaacs has toured with Vince Gill, released her own country songs and recorded with Brad Paisley, Parton, Reba McEntire and Stanley.

Fans will be able to hear the Isaacs again May 29 at the Graves’ Mountain Festival of Music.
