The 70-member Piedmont Virginia Community College Chorus will perform John Rutter’s “Requiem’’ and Randall Thompson’s “Frostiana’’ during its annual spring concert. The performance begins 3 p.m. Sunday in the V. Earl Dickinson Building.

The chorus, in its 10th season, will present Rutter’s “Requiem” with harpist Margaret marsh, flutist Christie Willard, timpanist Joseph Tornello, oboist Julia Perry and cellist Emma Johnson. Rebecca Ewing will be the soprano soloist.
Thompson, who headed the University of Virginia’s music department from 1941 to 1946, was commissioned by the town of Amherst, Mass., in 1959 to write a work to mark its centennial. The chorus will sing five of the work’s seven poems after a reading of the poems by Molly Suling.
