She’s coming to the Paramount Theater on Sunday and, yes, she’s still unforgettable.
Natalie Cole, touring in support of “Still Unforgettable,’’ her latest CD, will perform 8 p.m. Sunday at the Paramount Theater.
Expect a program of contemporary standards, popular favorites and, of course, her hits. Fans will remember “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love),’’ “Inseparable,’’ “Pink Cadillac,’’ “Miss You Like Crazy,’’ “Someone That I Used to Love’’ and “I’ve Got Love on my Mind.’’ Cole picked up the best-new-artist Grammy in 1975.
She’s known for her ease in the worlds of rhythm and blues, jazz and pop, moving seamlessly from decade to decade and genre to genre.
Cole made use of then-groundbreaking technology to perform a duet with her famous father, the late Nat King Cole, in 1991 on his hit “Unforgettable.’’ It was on her “Unforgettable … With Love’’ album, which picked up six Grammy Awards. Album of the year and record of the year were in that Grammy haul. Other songs on that album included “The Very Thought of You,’’ “Mona Lisa’’ and other songs from her father’s hit parade.
“Still Unforgettable,’’ released Sept. 9, is filled with 14 standards and features Cole in her producing debut. Songs from Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Sammy Davis Jr. also are on the CD.
“Walkin’ My Baby Back Home’’ is the technological “duet” with her father on this new album, which is her 21st.
Tony Bennett — who performed at the Paramount himself — recommended that she try “Coffee Time,’’ and she included it on the album.
Other tunes on the new CD — and thus fair game for Sunday’s program — include “Come Rain or Come Shine,’’ “”You Go to My Head,’’ “Why Don’t You Do Right?’’ and “The Best Is Yet to Come,’’ another nod to Bennett.
Cole also is an actress whom “Grey’s Anatomy’’ fans may remember as the patient who needed a fork removed from her neck. She also has appeared in “Touched by an Angel,’’ “I’ll Fly Away’’ and “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.’’
Her autobiography is “Angel on My Shoulder.’’
