If you’ve had “Proud Mary’’ on the brain since you first heard that John Fogerty would be coming to the Charlottesville Pavilion, you’re not alone.
Sure, the huge hits from his Creedence Clearwater Revival days spring to mind when one thinks of the rock pioneer.
But he’s been busy as a solo artist since the landmark rock band split up in 1972. Just think of “Centerfield,’’ for instance.
The good news is that he’s still ready to play. He even has a recent album to share — “Revival,’’ released in October. It picked up a Grammy Award nomination earlier this year for best rock album, an honor he won in 1997 for another collection, “Blue Moon Swamp.’’
“John Fogerty will be a great show,’’ said Pam Garrison, promotions director for Monticello Media and a familiar voice to fans of Your Country 99.7.
“He was the lead singer of Creedence [Clearwater Revival], and you know he’s going to do the songs.’’
And what songs they are — “Bad Moon Rising,’’ “Rockin’ All over the World,’’, “Born on the Bayou’’ and “Fortunate Son’’ are just a few.
Fogerty entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 for his work with Creedence, but he’s not resting on his laurels.
On Sunday night, fans can hear those big songwriting wheels keep on turnin’.
