The Met comes to Paramount via HD broadcast

“Salome’’ by Richard Strauss is the next selection in the Metropolitan Opera’s “The Met: Live in HD’’ series of live broadcasts at the Paramount Theater.

The opera broadcast can be seen 1 p.m. Saturday. Karita Mattila caused a stir when she sang Salome for the met the first time in 2004. Patrick Summers conducts the opera, which includes the “Dance of the Seven Veils.’’

The Met, in its 125th season, is making the high-definition transmissions available to local opera fans without the need to travel to New York for the performances.

l March 7: Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.’’

l March 21: Bellini’s “La Somnambula,’’ a new production.

l May 9: “La Cenerentola’’ by Rossini.
