One puppet is a chili pepper on a stick. Another is a politically incorrect curmudgeon. They’re part of Jeff Dunham’s “Suitcase Posse,’’ which will be bringing laughs to John Paul Jones Arena at 7 p.m. Sunday in “Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity.’’
Dunham has blended ventriloquism and comedy with his puppet posse, entertaining millions of fans with his two multi-platinum DVDs, “Spark of Insanity’’ and “Arguing with Myself.’’
The hour-long stand-up comedy version of “Spark of Insanity’’ remains one of Comedy Central’s highest-rated specials. Fans also will want to keep their eyes open for “A Very Special Christmas Special,’’ which is set for a Nov. 16 release on Comedy Central and a DVD release.
His characters include:
l Peanut, a lovable purple imp who has been described as “a Muppet on crack.’’
l Walter, the grumpy oldster whose carved scowl may be most recognizable to television fans.
Fans who visit http://www.jeffdunham.com can keep up with Walter’s bid for the presidency on a decidedly misanthropic and grouchy platform.
l Jose Jalapeno is the chili pepper who had a pogo stick accident.
l Bubba J loves beer and NASCAR.
l The newest member of the Posse is Achmed the Dead Terrorist.
Dunham’s characters appear in four of the 20 top-rated YouTube clips of all time.
Tickets are $43.50. Get them at the arena’s box office, online at http://www.johnpauljones
