Pulitzer winner
visits Miller Center
Eric Lichtblau will be the featured speaker this week at the Miller Center.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter will take part in a forum at 11 a.m. Friday. Following his discussion, Lichtblau will sign copies of his new book, “Bush’s Law: The Remaking of American Justice.”
Lichtblau covers federal law enforcement and national security issues for the New York Times. He won the Pulitzer in 2006 for his coverage of the National Security Agency’s warrantless wiretapping.

Live Poets invite all to share their work
Jefferson-Madison Regional Library will host three events this week.
Live Poets Society will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gordon Avenue Library.
People are welcome to share original poetry.
On Thursday, the Greene County Library will host its Book Discussion Group at 7 p.m. This month’s book is “A Fine Balance” by Rohinton Mistry.
Then on Friday, the Literary Masterpiece Book Group will meet at 10 a.m. at Gordon Avenue Library to discuss “Barchester Towers” by Anthony Trollope.

Donovan wins
Levis Reading Prize
Matthew Donovan’s “Vellum” won the 2008 Levis Reading Prize.
The Levis prize is presented by Virginia Commonwealth University for the best first or second book of poetry published in the previous calendar year.
Donovan’s poems have appeared in such journals as Poetry, Agni, the Gettysburg Review and the Kenyon Review. He serves as an assistant professor of creative writing at the College of Sante Fe and lives in New Mexico with his wife and son.
“Vellum” was published by Mariner Books.
Donovan will receive a $1,000 honorarium and an all-expenses paid trip to Richmond for a reception and public reading on Sept. 18.
