Crozet residents soon will have a new coffee shop to add to the area’s growing retail and restaurant scene.

Crozet resident Marcia McGee plans to open Trailside Coffee in the Old Trail Village Center, an under-construction commercial section of the Old Trail development in western Albemarle County.

McGee’s coffee shop is the third business confirmed for the Village Center. It will join a pizza restaurant announced earlier this spring, as well as a beauty salon.

Old Trail’s developer, Beights Corp., has said the commercial center would include restaurants, office space and a fitness center.

The coffee shop is expected to open by January, after the retail center is completed. McGee, however, said her business will begin selling coffee and espresso from a cart by August in the Old Trail golf clubhouse.

McGee said her shop has set up custom roasting agreements with Williamsburg Coffee & Tea Co., as well as other boutique roasters.

Trailside Coffee will focus on its namesake beverage, but also will offer smoothies, teas and other beverages. McGee plans to also serve pastries, soups, salads and paninis.
