Healthy Kids Fair

on tap Saturday

The Junior League of Charlottesville will present a Healthy Kids Fair from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Johnson Elementary School for children in kindergarten through sixth grade and their parents.

The event is part of Junior League's Kids in the Kitchen, the third annual educational initiative on childhood obesity and nutrition.

Children will participate in fitness sessions, make two healthy snacks, help a local chef make healthy smoothies, decorate aprons and learn how to read food labels.

The event is free, but reservations are recommended. Attendees without reservations will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. For reservations, call 971-2937 or e-mail training@

Passover wine event returns with auction

Congregation Beth Israel will present its eighth annual Passover Wine Tasting and Silent Auction at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the congregation's O'Mansky Hall at 301 E. Jefferson St.

Market Street Wineshop's Robert Harllee will share selections of white, red and kosher-for-Passover wines. There will be hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Local musician David Weiss will perform.

Silent auction items include a stay at a luxury inn in Lexington, a guided nature/bird walk, a rock-climbing lesson, financial planning consultation and gift certificates for area restaurants.

Food, wine pairing on tap at DelFosse

DelFosse Vineyards and Winery in Faber will offer a Food and Wine Pairing Lunch at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Four dishes will be paired with four tastings of award-winning wines. The menu is by chef Genevieve DelFosse, and DelFosse Winery wines will be served.

The event is $30, and reservations are required. A complimentary wine glass is included. Call 263-6100.

Mona Lisa Pasta schedules class

Charlottesville Wine and Culinary and Mona Lisa Pasta are teaming up to present a new culinary class.

Jim Winecoff, owner and chef of Mona Lisa Pasta, and Terre Sisson of Charlottesville Wine and Culinary will teach Just Desserts at 7 p.m. Friday.

The recipes will include turtle terine, chocolate bread pudding with German chocolate sauce, banana pudding parfaits and mango tarte.

The 2--hour class is presented in a participation format. The cost is $50. Reservations are accepted with full payment.

Keswick picks Nichols as manager

Paige Nichols is the new tasting room manager at Keswick Vineyards.
