A three-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on U.S. 250 in Albemarle County has left a Charlottesville man dead and four others injured, according to Albemarle police.
The wreck occurred about 4:10 p.m. on U.S. 250 near Hunters Way when a westbound 2006 Mercedes ML-350 sport utility vehicle driven by John Jarvis English, 63, veered into oncoming lanes, side-swiping a 2006 Subaru Forester driven by Andrew Stronge, 27. English’s Mercedes then struck head-on a 2001 Hyundai Accent driven by Jeffrey T. May, 23, of Palmyra.
English was taken to the University of Virginia Med-ical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Stronge and a passenger in his car, Adrienne Stronge, 24; and May and a passenger in his car, Shelley Vaughan, 21, all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The Albemarle County Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene. The preliminary cause of the crash may be been a medical issue suffered by English.
