Virginia Supreme Court Justice G. Steven Agee has been sworn in as a judge on the U.S. Court Appeals for the 4th Circuit.
The U.S. Senate confirmed him May 20 with a 96-0 vote, and he was sworn in last week. Agee is replacing J. Michael Luttig, who resigned in May 2006 to become senior vice president and general counsel at the Boeing Co.
Agee, who is a 1977 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, served as a justice for the Supreme Court of Virginia since 2003. Prior to that position, Agee spent two years as a judge on the Court of Appeals of Virginia and more than 20 years as a private practice attorney. He also served as a delegate to the General Assembly for 12 years, representing Salem and parts of Roanoke and Montgomery counties.
