Canadian-born singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette is coming to town to support a good cause.

The seven-time Grammy award winner will take the stage at the Charlottesville Pavilion on Sept. 18, in a benefit concert for the Charlottesville Free Clinic. She is using the event to kick off her North American tour to promote her new album, “Flavors of Entanglement.”

Morissette, who is also an actress and record producer, will be fresh off her European tour. Prior to making landfall in Charlottesville, she will have performed in Monaco, France, Belgium, Hungary and the United Kingdom.

Morissette’s 1995 album, “Jagged Little Pill,” sold millions of copies, earned four Grammys and made her an international star. To date she has sold more than 55 million albums.

The upcoming event is part of an annual benefit concert series for the Charlottesville Free Clinic supported by Starr Hill Presents, Red Light Management and the Pavilion. It has been a big winner for the clinic.

Bonnie Raitt performed at last year’s concert, which raised $200,000 for the clinic. The money made up more than 25 percent of the clinic’s annual operating budget.

Sponsor packages for the concert are available through the clinic. Tickets go on sale July 25 through the Charlottesville Pavilion, Ticket-master and Morissette’s Web site at www. alanismorissette.com.

Individual ticket prices were not yet available.
