Area residents named to Virginia boards

Four Charlottesville-area residents have been appointed to the boards that oversee James Madison University and Virginia State University.
Vanessa M. Evans of Char-lottesville, associate director of the Ron Brown Scholar Program for black college-bound students, was named to JMU’s Board of Visitors.
Joining Virginia State University’s BOV will be: Jerry B. Bias of Charlottesville, senior partner and head of trading at Cyrus Capital Partners; Christopher H. Holden of Albemarle County, managing partner of Court Square Ventures; and E. Ray Murphy of Albemarle, a retiree.
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine announced the four higher education appointments Tuesday.
Kaine also appointed Betsy T. Critzer of Earlysville to the state’s Real Estate Appraisers Board. Critzer is a certified residential appraiser at Pape and Co.
Also, E. Grant Cosner of Charlottesville, president of Cosner Brothers Body Shop, was reappointed to the state’s Reforestation Board.
