Charlottesville has issued several traffic alerts that are effective beginning this week.
As a part of the University of Virginia’s South Lawn Project, jersey barriers will separate pedestrian and vehicular traffic on Jefferson Park Avenue starting today. One lane per direction will be maintained for vehicles.
Construction of the South Lawn Terrace’s wooden framework has also been extended into next week and should be completed Thursday. Work on the terrace will be done between 2 and 6 a.m., and one lane of Jefferson Park Avenue will be closed.
Also today until 6 a.m., Water Street from 701 E. Water St. to 10th Street Northeast will be closed. Fourteen parking spaces on Water Street will be unavailable during this time.
Sanitary sewer work also will affect the right turn lane of Madison Avenue at Preston Avenue beginning Thursday.
