Fire investigators have determined a faulty forklift was the cause of a Friday fire that caused $500,000 of damage to a building in The Square industrial center in Crozet.
Billy Clark, a county fire investigator, said a forklift parked inside the building had an electrical failure that caused the fire. Clark said the 12,500-square-foot prefabricated building, one of several buildings used by lumber company J. Bruce Barnes Inc., was filled with dry lumber.
Crews from Crozet, Charlottesville and North Garden responded to the fire.
