Hope Community Center is expecting 1,000-plus people to attend its inaugural Free Clothing and Toy Give Away.

Volunteers from around Charlottesville, Albemarle and the Shenandoah Valley have been collecting toys and clothing for those who are in need during the Christmas season.

From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, area families in need of help will be able to come to the Hope Commu-nity Center in Charlottes-ville and receive clothing.

A number of local agencies and churches are involved in the project and will be at the center to connect families to programs that can help them throughout the year.

Food will be provided along with music and puppet shows for children.
