As Albemarle County focuses on managing its growth, officials hope an expert from Atlanta can offer insight.
Jim Durrett, the executive director of the Livable Communities Coalition in Atlanta, is expected to give a presentation this week attended by Albemarle County staff and members of community organizations.
Formed in August 2005, the coalition consists of about 40 organizations that deal with growth and development challenges in the Atlanta region.
Durrett will discuss matters Albemarle is likely to face in planning for its urban growth, including housing, environment, transportation and public health issues, according to county spokeswoman Lee Catlin.
The presentation is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Friday in Room 241 of the County Office Building on McIntire Road.
