Albemarle is among the most technologically advanced county governments in the United States. That’s the finding of a recent study by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties.
Albemarle was ranked ninth for counties with fewer than 150,000 residents — the sixth time in a row the county’s been ranked in the top 10.
The results were determined by county officials’ responses to questions about Albemarle’s online service delivery, infrastructure, information technology architecture and governance models.
The average number of page visits for the Albemarle County Web site increased almost 40 percent from 2006 to 2007, according to county spokeswoman Lee Catlin.
