The Commute

Afternoon delight ... not

Poems stirred
into paper coffee cups, eaten
with petals on rye in the
sun—the cold shadows in
back,
and the traffic grinding the
borders of spring ...

Denise Levertov—“A Common Ground.”

I-64 is screwed up to the tune of a five-mile waltz of stop-go-stop bewteen Ivy and the Stockton Creek bridge. One lane is closed on the bridge at milepost 108 to allow repairs to the deck. Best bet is to take U.S. 250 and expect delays there, as well. Or just stop and grab a latte, a brownie and a hardcopy of The Daily Progress.

Earlysville Road near the Airport: Paving project. Expect delays

Wertland Street just west of 10th Street: Closed to through traffic indefinitely.

I-64 in both directions at mile marker 108, about 11 miles west of Charlottesville: The westbound right lane, and the eastbound right shoulder are closed until 6 p.m. for bridge repair.
