A man implicated in a local drug ring was sentenced Monday to 40 months in prison.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Huber said in court that Reginald Vaughn Bly acted as a courier between New York City and Charlottesville, moving pounds of marijuana twice a month from 2001 to earlier this year. Bly reportedly was paid for his work in money and marijuana.
A federal grand jury indicted Bly and seven others in February. Authorities said Reynold George Samuels Jr., the owner of Sexshuns, led the crime ring, which dealt in drugs and pirated DVDs.
At least one more of Bly’s co-defendants is scheduled to be sentenced in November in Charlottesville federal court. Samuels and four others are scheduled for a jury trial in November.
