Earlysville teen faces rape, abduction charges

A 19-year-old Earlysville man was arrested last week and charged with abduction, rape and forcible sodomy, according to Albemarle police.

A 17-year-old girl told police that she and Andrew Reid Bechtle were supposed to go out for dinner and a movie on June 16, but instead he took her to his home, where she said the offenses occurred, according to a search warrant filed in Albemarle Circuit Court.

Police seized a pair of underwear and shorts from the suspect’s home, according to the search warrant.
The investigation is ongoing, said Lt. Todd Hopwood of the Albemarle police.
