A marijuana courier in a local drug ring was sentenced today to 40 months in prison.
Reginald Vaughn Bly was one of eight people indicted in February after a downtown shoe store was raided. Authorities allege Reynold George Samuels Jr., the owner of Sexshuns, was the ringleader of the crime ring, which involved selling drugs and pirated DVDs.
In federal court this morning, Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Huber said Bly moved pounds of marijuana twice a month between New York City and Charlottesville from 2001 to earlier this year. Bly was paid for his work in money and marijuana.
At least one more of Bly’s co-defendants is scheduled to be sentenced in November. Samuels and four others are scheduled for a jury trial in November.
