A contest this month will give area students the chance to come up with ideas to help reduce gas consumption.
The contest, “JT’s ‘Tell Us What You Think,’” challenges elementary, middle and high school students in greater Charlottesville to devise gas-saving solutions and describe them in 150 words.
The contest was created by Charles Alexander, also known as Alex-Zan, an educator, “info-tainer” and Charlottesville native.
“My objective is to provide a creative thinking and writing forum for children and youth to express their thoughts and ideas about today’s relevant issues,” Alexander said.
There will be prizes for the three best ideas, including $50 in cash, gas cards, a mall gift certificate, a grocery store gift card and “JT – Just Think” products.
The free contest will last from July 1 to July 22. Submissions should be dropped off at Computers 4 Kids or mailed to: Computers 4 Kids, 945 Second St. S.E., Charlottesville, VA 22902.
More information may be found at http://www.jtsplace.net, where the winning submissions will be posted.
