Albemarle County officials are calling 25,000 residents, inviting them to ask questions about the school division’s budget for next school year.
Albemarle residents who are registered to vote will receive calls on their home phones between about 7 and 7:25 p.m. Wednesday. No sign-up is required.
Residents who answer the call will be invited to join the telephone town hall by pressing a button on their phones.
Participants will be able to listen to the discussion, ask questions of officials and respond to poll questions about the school division’s budget priorities for fiscal 2010, in which officials say school spending will have to be cut by at least $6 million compared with the budget for the current school year.
Participating officials include School Board Chairman Brian Wheeler, Vice Chairwoman Diantha McKeel, Superintendent Pam Moran, Assistant Superinten-dent Bruce Benson and Fiscal Services Director Jackson Zimmerman.
