PALMYRA — Two Fluvanna men reportedly connected to 50 burglaries in eight counties were denied bond this morning.
Mark Wayne Shifflett and Ronald Lee Morris will remain in Central Virginia Regional Jail on felony charges of possession of cocaine and unlawfully possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony.
Authorities executed a search warrant Friday evening at 153 Cedar Hill Road, where they seized jewelry, firearms, tools and other items. Police have said more charges are pending.
Both defendants were assigned public defenders this morning in Fluvanna General District Court. Michael Hallahan, Morris’s appointed attorney, told Judge Roger L. Morton that Morris was on probation out of Albemarle for a 1982 charge.
Shifflett has a scheduled jury trial June 12 in Fluvanna Circuit Court on drug charges. Police claimed he had cocaine and a prescription drug that was not prescribed to him.
