Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore will visit Charlottesville on Wednesday as part of his campaign to fill the U.S. Senate seat being left vacant by retiring Sen. John W. Warner.
Gilmore, a Richmond Republican, will stop by Sam’s Kitchen at 1403 Emmet St. at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The meet-and-greet is part of Gilmore’s “Working Families Tour” of Virginia, in which he is bringing his message of “lower gas prices, lower taxes and trust” to 14 towns and cities.
Following his stop by Sam’s Kitchen, Gilmore will head up to the Shenandoah Springs farm on Stage Coach Lane in Madison County. That visit will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Gilmore is facing Democrat Mark R. Warner in the Nov. 4 contest. Warner is also a former Virginia governor.
