Another word on church words

After reading the letter to the editor about church voting in the Oct. 25 Daily Progress (“The word from church on voting”), I felt compelled to put more context around the quotes, used to condone voting Democratic.

The author quotes from the Oct. 25 Catholic Virginian. That same article states:
“Disregarding the right to life itself — the foundation upon which all other human rights are based and without which no other right could possibly exist — is more serious than any rights violation.”

It goes on to say, “Moreover, we must fully understand that so-called ‘abortion rights’ deny the most fundamental human right (and hence all rights) to an entire class of people and we must confront the almost incomprehensible fact that abortion extinguishes the lives of nearly 4,000 children per day (and well over one million per year) in the United States.”

Now I ask: After reading more context, which of the two candidates appears to hold views contrary to church teaching?
