Big house comes with great folks

This addresses the May 3 article “Big house raises big concerns” (The Daily Pro-gress), regarding the proposal by Mark and Barbara Fried to build a new home on Second Street, Charlottesville.

I live on Altamont Street and am a resident of the North Downtown neighborhood. I welcome the Frieds, whom I have known for about 10 years. I believe them to be progressive, compassionate and responsible. I also believe they would add vigor and interest to our neighborhood.

I understand the adjacent neighbors’ concern about de-velopment right next door, but I believe the Frieds will be sensitive to their neighbors and make as low an impact as possible during construction and provide us with two really great neighbors.
