I read with interest the letter in your July 21 edition headlined “Bush defenders need to wake up.”
I was confused at first, because I thought the writer was criticizing Teddy Kennedy or Al Gore. Instead, he was talking about President Bush as “a person whose lifetime record is one of failure.”
He obviously needs to do his homework. President Bush is the only one of those three who earned a master’s degree (in business administration). He served as governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. He was re-elected as president in 2004 by 62,040,003 votes to John Kerry’s 59,027,335. That apparently means, in the previous letter writer’s view, that more than half of those who voted in the 2004 election were incompetent since they voted for an incompetent.
Is the writer aware that President Bush is the one who has kept this nation free for him to write such a letter? Is he aware that President Bush was not the one who started this war? Remember those two tall buildings that used to stand in lower New York?
