Charlottesville was honored when legend Elton John performed at JPJ before continuing on to his Las Vegas shows. As famous as Elton John is, he could have chosen anywhere to perform. He put on an awesome concert! He rarely even took a break, and we were treated to more songs than most play at a concert. We definitely got our money’s worth.

I was appalled that Melissa Ruggieri’s review in the Oct. 18 paper was headlined “Voice shows age, but John still rocks” (The Daily Progress). She went on to make degrading remarks regarding his “sausage fingers,” his age, his unfurling his same songs for decades and his rough vocals.

This article is an embarrassment for Charlottesville. I hope Mr. John did not read this review after putting on such a great concert.
