Gaylon Beights Albemarle County
Published: July 19, 2008

I am pleased to write in response to a letter published July 7 (“County needs to build golf course,” The Daily Progress).

The author seems to have the impression that there are no public courses in Albemarle County other than McIntire and Meadowcreek. There is a championship-level, gorgeous golf course in western Albemarle County, Old Trail Golf. Old Trail Golf is open to the public. Our slogan is “All Players Welcome,” and this is absolutely true.

The letter writer said, “A golf course is a serene, beautiful venue that also serves as a sanctuary for all sorts of wildlife.” I couldn’t agree more. Old Trail Golf is at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains with spectacular views and breathtaking sunsets.
