I urge everyone to vote for Virgil Goode in Congress. He has done a superb job in the House of Representatives for us all, for years, and should continue to do so.

His vote is now more important than ever. Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia are trying to stop Congress from voting for offshore oil drilling at sea or in Alaska, etc., in a time of desperate need, and have managed to delay the Republican-sponsored bills to begin such drilling. Those who blame the oil-producing companies for oil pricing are wrong. Those companies do their best to produce, and try for profits vs. heavy drilling costs. But when oil is sold for the standard American dollar, which declined mightily against other currencies, the sellers have to raise the dollar price to get their original value. Similarly, the dollar no longer pays for other foreign goods or for travel at the favorable exchange rate we have become accustomed to.

Also, Mr. Goode and others can make U.S. passports require fingerprints, as they did years ago. Fingerprints also should be required on all state drivers’ licenses as perfect, unfakeable proof of identity. These also should be required to be shown when voting, and on any single I.D. cards for non-drivers.

New candidates abound, but Virgil Goode is a proven, great Virginia legislator. Vote for him and be glad.
