The Meadowcreek Parkway is not the true issue.
The real issue is the nearby counties that use Charlottesville as a means to an end.
We have traffic from every compass direction that flows through the city, to the detriment of our neighborhoods and urban life.
We are a small city and are being asked to give up rare green space so non-city traffic can reach its destinations faster and easier.
Albemarle County in particular is not meeting its residents’ transportation needs.
An Eastern Connector or U.S. 29 bypass should have been built years ago when land was available.
The Meadowcreek Parkway is outdated before it is built.
It will not relieve traffic on Rio and Park streets; rather, it will provide another way through the city.
