An April 29 Daily Progress article (“National tours will be stopping by the Jack”) described several Broadway shows scheduled to appear at the new John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville. This is both good news and bad news.
The good news is that little ol’ C’ville will be hosting some first-class Broadway stage plays. The bad news is the excessively high-priced per person tickets, ranging from $196 though $254, plus tax and sales charges.
These outrageous New York City prices will certainly separate the sheep from the goats. Economic segregation will assure that no low-income riff-raff will attend any of these events.
Christ Jesus himself, that longhaired, hippy-looking guy with dirty sandals, could not likely afford to attend the production of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” scheduled for March 10, 2009. Thanks be to God that New York City prices will soon conquer Charlottesville!
