Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton. However, she is a smart and competent woman who represents policies that I repudiate. She may, in time, be a force on the Republican right. If that happens, then good for her. The two parties can turn the democratic system over to the women. That would be different.
However, Sarah Palin is not ready for the high position that John McCain has hooked her onto. Ms. Palin’s selection is not about her, really. She was doing just fine in Alaska.
No, her selection is about the judgment of Mr. McCain, who is disgracing himself through his oft-repeated lies and craven cynicism. It’s horrifying to watch a man, who I at least respected, turn himself out like he’s doing.
