The May 27 story “Prince William sees signs of change amid illegal-immigration crackdown” bemoans the loss of business in the area due to local authorities enforcing the law and the subsequent decrease in the local population among those living in this country illegally. An expert draws the conclusion that “the policy could end up tainting the county’s image and scaring off investors.”
I would think just the opposite. Why would we think that not enforcing the law aids a community? Why would we think that encouraging businesses that make money by supporting people in this country illegally is a positive thing for that community or for those here illegally?
We are a nation that abides by law. Undermine that principle, and we will no longer be a nation at all.
I celebrate what Prince William’s done. It is setting an example that others should follow.
