What has become of our ideals?

If the citizens of this republic accept the notion that is currently being submitted through the media, then we are to believe that we are witnessing the supposed resurgence of pure, popular democracy in a form so fundamental, that it has not existed since the Colonial town meeting.

Various forms of electronic media allow the national community to watch events as they happen, and simultaneously react. The end product is the outpouring of a wave of support that can carry a little-known man, promising nothing but an undefined change, to the highest office conceived by our founders.

While the attention of most people is on the presidential election, let us not forget that there are also congressmen, governors, mayors and aldermen in small towns and large cities also running, and the party promising revolutionary change needs a ticket that can win. Meanwhile, the top two Democractic candidates who recently strove against each other are now lavishly speaking of unity.

Let’s be realistic: Unity in this circumstance is just another code word for control. Both candidates displayed the attributes of the darkest of beasts: the lust for power. The more it is fed, the larger it grows — and the larger grows its appetite.

Those who have power hunger for more. And those who have absolute power are insatiable.

We have seen one party lie to us as a nation, disguising its true intent of socialism, tricking the ignorant into believing it is Americanism.

It has made our government mutate right into wrong so many times over the last four decades, who now is able to discern good from evil anymore?

Immorality now infects many of the highest offices in the land, and the disease is contagious and virulent. It infects and sickens the very heart of the people and saps the natural strengths of our nation.

Were we so arrogant? Were we so blind? Have we forgotten the promises of the Scriptures? Did we think we could spread this infection throughout the rest of the world and remain, ourselves, immune?

What has become of our ideals, America? What has become of the truths we hold to be self-evident? What became of our dreams?
