I-64 sniper suspect may face trial as adult

A juvenile charged in last month’s Interstate 64 shootings may be tried as an adult in circuit court.
Albemarle prosecutors have requested a transfer hearing for the 16-year-old Crozet boy, who appeared Wednesday in Albemarle Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Both prosecutors and defense lawyers asked for the juvenile’s hearing to be continued until next Wednesday so that all involved would have the necessary paperwork.

Man shot by police recovering

A man shot last week by police seeking suspects in the Interstate 64 shootings is still recovering from wounds to his arms and chest, his lawyer said Monday.
The man, whom both the lawyer and police would not identify, remains in stable condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center, officials said.
“He’s improving and he’s not on any life support,” said John Zwerling, an Alexandria-based lawyer. “He was shot in both arms and has a bullet in his chest.”
