Charlottesville’s girls soccer team’s state quarterfinal battle with Courtland was called a 1-0 Courtland victory after a thunderstorm delay of nearly three hours. There were 38 minutes left on the clock when the game was delayed, but those 38 minutes won’t ever be played.

On Tuesday, Albemarle’s baseball team drove away from its Virginia High School League state tournament quarterfinal down 5-4 in the middle of the fifth inning to defending Group AAA champion James River. In Woodbridge, Margaret Moss scored six goals as the Albemarle girls lacrosse team defeated Forest Park 18-6 in the Northwest Region semifinals on Thursday.

Junior midfielder James Wittwer scored in the second half to lift the Albemarle boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Massaponax in the Commonwealth District semifinals on Tuesday night.

In the Commonwealth District championship, Albemarle was in a dogfight most for the first three quarters against North Stafford, but the Patriots dominated the latter stages of the game to pull away 15-8 on Friday night.

Western Albemarle’s tennis program added two more trophies to its case on Thursday in the Jefferson District singles championships.

Thomas Stallings drove in the game-winning run as the Miller baseball team rallied for four runs in the last two innings in a 4-3 victory over Seton in the VISBA quarterfinals on Tuesday.
