University of Virginia officials are aiming to allay concerns about the state of the school’s investments and overall stability in light of a financial crisis that is wracking financial markets worldwide.

University of Virginia President John T. Casteen III said he’s not convinced that lowering the drinking age to 18 won’t have a negative impact.

The University of Virginia’s longtime dean of admissions announced Monday that he will retire in June 2009.

Ever since Edward L. Ayers announced in November 2006 that he was exiting the University of Virginia to lead the University of Richmond, UVa has been hunting for the right candidate to follow him as dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.
