Both Western Albemarle and Fluvanna County run the spread. The Warriors ran it to perfection on offense and defended it exceptionally well on defense to rout the homestanding Flucos 35-0 on Friday.

After absorbing Goochland’s Wing-T clinic in the first half, Fluvanna County threw one counterpunch — a 17-play, 72-yard, six-minute drive to open the second half. It was the last blow the Flucos landed as Goochland rolled to a 33-7 victory.

In her last at-bat as a member of the Fluvanna County softball team, Danielle Dike demonstrated what being a team player is all about. Trailing eventual Group AA champion Broad Run by seven runs, Flying Flucos coach Nick Ward gave Dike instructions about what to do if she saw a pitch inside.
