Monticello used its well-balanced offensive attack to dispatch John Handley for the Region II championship and advance to the Group AA, Division 3 semifinals this Saturday against James Monroe.

The Mustangs put together a perfect combination of passing, running and stingy defense to knock off John Handley 27-14 and capture their second consecutive Region II championship.

Monroe scored on a short corner with six minutes and 56 seconds in the first overtime when senior Phoebe Willis connected with sophomore Taylor Herold. The goal gave Monroe the 2-1 win and a berth in the title contest today.
