For most golfers, nothing beats enjoying a round on a beautiful day.

After discovering his love for golf at the age of 8, Dennis Walters began chasing his dream of playing professionally on the PGA Tour. But at 24, he was left paralyzed after being thrown from a golf cart. Doctors told him it would be impossible to continue playing the game he loved.

A few years ago, Charlottesville hardware salesman Kenneth S. Neal was hooked to an oxygen tank 24 hours a day, was expected to die and figured he’d never again be able to play a round of golf, his favorite pastime.

The Metropolitan Planning Organization looked long and hard into the future Wednesday afternoon, discussing both local and regional transportation projects aimed at alleviating traffic and easing mobility for anyone who sets foot in the area.
