The Richmond squad made the most of four Orange errors, six walks, and three hit batsmen by scoring 13 runs in a three-inning stretch and winning by the slaughter rule, 15-3.

Orange off to good start in state tournament
Instead, Brown delivered the game-winning hit in the top of the ninth when he hit a home run to left field that barely sailed over the fence, as Orange managed to slip past Annandale 13-12. The win put Post 156 into the winner’s bracket of the state tournament.

Albemarle Post 74 wins in extra innings
In the tenth inning, trailing by one run, the Albemarle offense rallied once more, and after Ryan Hughes drove in the tying run, Patrick Collins drove in Daniel Haugh to win the game, 5-4.

“It was a great baseball game,” said Post 156 coach Chris Haney, whose team is in just its second season. “We just kept battling. We never let the game get away from us. Last year, maybe we don’t come back.”
