Piedmont Virginia Community College has pushed to offer more classes online — with zero in 2000 there are more than 70 this year — but instructor Allen Duff’s is the only one that is engaging students in real-time video.

When Anne Megibow first started teaching dance to Piedmont Virginia Community College students three decades ago, her classes met in the basement of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Since then, she has seen the dance program — and the college’s fine arts offerings — grow by leaps and bounds.
