St. Anne’s-Belfield’s volleyball team has seven seniors on the squad, so expectations were high coming into this season because of the Saints’ veteran leadership. But then the Saints stumbled a little out of the gate, struggling with a tough schedule. That’s part of the past now.

Albemarle High’s volleyball team isn’t just winning matches right now — they’re dominating them. The Patriots (12-0) have lost just three games in matches this year behind the heavy-hitting attack duo of Kara Elder and Laura Gomez.

Tasmin Fanning, a former standout at Western Albemarle High School, advanced to today’s finals in the 5,000-meter run in the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials.
